Ships and Sweets in Alsace
Before we went to Nancy, we stopped in some pretty villages: in Bouxwiller and Saverne. In Savern you can find a lovely house called Tavern Katz and some shipping highlights: the Marne-Rhine-Canal, which has many interesting details for example it has 4 tunnels and an inclined plane in Saint-Louis Arzviller to cross the Vosges Mountains. It can lift ships more than 100m high and in 4 minutes. Unfortunately it was closed, but we will go back in summer to see how it works. I hope you are not hungry, otherwise the end of the post can be dangerous! :)![]() |
